Frequently Asked Questions

Listed below are the most common questions but please feel free to call the office with any additional questions

I am no longer contracted an in-network provider with health insurance companies.

If you are interested in using your health insurance benefits for a session, I am able to provide a Superbill (detailed receipt) as an Out of Network (OON) provider. If you have OON benefits, you may receive partial or full reimbursement.

You must contact your insurance company directly to obtain accurate information regarding your personal plan benefits.

Individual sessions are generally 45-50 minutes long, once a week. However, this may vary due to clinical recommendations for treatment. Some recommendations may include two sessions a week or once every two weeks.

Couples’ sessions can range from 50-90 minutes in duration once a week, but again this is based on clinical recommendations.

I have the ability to offer telehealth as a method of providing psychotherapy services.

With telehealth sessions, it is my responsibility to assess each client for whether telehealth is clinically appropriate. Telehealth is not applicable at all times for all clients. I use the SimplePractice Telehealth platform as it is a HIPAA-compliant medium to protect your privacy.

I realize that I will not be the best fit for every client, and every client will not be the best fit for my method or approach, therefore, it is important to me to continuously have that conversation so it is easy to make a change if needed. If we are not a good fit for each other I am happy to suggest other local providers.

I do ask for 24-hour notice if you would like to cancel a session. The fee for a late cancellation or no-show is $50.00.

I can offer a sliding scale for a fixed number of clients on my caseload, so don’t hesitate to call and discuss this as an option.

I can also suggest other referral sources if my sliding scale spots are full.

Should I be requested to write a letter on any court-related matter, I will not stipulate an opinion in writing or in person. I may only provide observations and feedback. I will never make a recommendation concerning custody or any other court-related matter as this is not under my scope of practice.

If I am court-ordered to appear in court, please review my fees related to the appearance listed in the consent for treatment document.

I offer in-person sessions for those vaccinated against Covid-19. As stated above, I also provide telehealth appointments when needed and clinically appropriate. If and when the client(s) request in-person sessions, they must first sign the Consent for In-Person Social Work Services for Those Vaccinated Against Covid-19 and comply with the consent.

As part of the No Surprises Act of 2021, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, all health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises
